My friends, it’s just under three weeks until the leadership application package will be available for prospective leadership candidates, followed by the kickoff of a 7-month leadership contest starting on September 2nd. 

This week, we’re launching a new campaign as Reclaim Canada’s NDP to inform the public about the upcoming leadership contest and encourage a healthy number of candidates from all over the country. In addition, we’ll be keeping a close eye on party upper management, acting as a watchdog, to ensure that this race is adequately overseen.

RECLAIM CANADA’S NDP JOINS LEAH GAZAN AND HEATHER MCPHERSON’S CALLS FOR AN ARMS EMBARGO ON ISRAEL

We echo the statements put out by Heather McPherson and Leah Gazan calling for an immediate arms embargo and immediately end all permits for arms and military sales to Israel in light of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. 

Despite the Liberal government agreeing to implement a two-way embargo, tax data has shown that military cargo has continued to be shipped to Israel from Canada, in some cases even on commercial flights.

RECLAIM CANADA’S NDP WILL BE IMPARTIAL IN THE LEADERSHIP RACE

This past month, we’ve been meeting with many of you from all over the country, and you’ve told us you like the work we’re doing, but have expressed concerns about Reclaim Canada’s NDP endorsing a leadership candidate.

We completely agree, our work will focus on ensuring that this race is competitive, fair, and reinvigorating. Endorsing a candidate would impede that ability and do a disservice to the grassroots, which is why we will refrain from endorsing a candidate during the duration of the race.

Of course, we’ll be doing a lot of work around the leadership race, and are happy to meet with any leadership candidates, and will send questionnaires and pledges for candidates during the race, but endorsing a candidate would be counter-intuitive for this movement.

UPDATE ON WORKSHOPS AND TOWN HALLS: ATTENTION MANITOBANS!

Last week, we told you that we that we were working on setting up some workshops across the country for riding associations, or any New Democrats wanting to improve their skills in terms of fundraising, organizing, graphic design, etc.,

We are happy to announce the dates for our virtual town halls and fundraising workshops for Manitoba riding associations and other NDP supporters in Manitoba that want to get involved! 

At the end of this month, we’ll host two Manitoba-wide virtual town-hall sessions to discuss how we can start the rebuilding process.

Wednesday, August 27th at 7 PM CDT, and Sunday, August 31st at 2 pm CDT.

And at the beginning of September, we will have two fundraising workshops for Manitoba riding associations or any Manitoban New Democrat interested in improving their fundraising skills. These workshops will focus on establishing sustainable fundraising practices that are manageable for small teams of volunteers.
