THE RECLAIMER: CALL FOR REGIONAL ORGANIZERS, LEADERSHIP UPDATES, AND MORE!
WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR REGIONAL ORGANIZERS EVERYWHERE!
Hello, my friends! Wow! A lot has happened this week; this movement is constantly growing, and we have so much momentum. Not just in the Reclaim movement, but all across the NDP, there is a particular something in the air.
People are excited about the idea of a party that actually works for everyday people. There are currently three official candidates in the race, with at least one more candidate expected to announce next week. No matter the candidate, each campaign launch was filled to the brim with excited New Democrats. This is a great sign.
We have a real opportunity to use this momentum to strengthen the riding associations that comprise this party. I’ll be honest, we are going to need your help to do this. This is no easy task.
This is why we are now seeking volunteer regional organizers everywhere, from coast-to-coast-to-coast. We need folks who are dedicated to strengthening and building riding associations in their region. This looks different everywhere; some regions have plenty of riding associations, some don’t have any.
This work won’t be easy, but it needs to be done. If you’re interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/eB7jqGVXqkcw8xRV9
LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES… GET READY TO RUMBLE!
As mentioned previously, there are now three official candidates in the leadership race. I’ll run you through each of them in the order that they announced.
Avi Lewis launched his campaign on September 19th, 2025. He is a journalist, filmmaker, and activist based in Vancouver, BC. He’s also the son of former Ontario NDP Leader Stephen Lewis and the grandson of former Federal NDP Leader David Lewis. You can find his website here: https://lewisforleader.ca/
Heather McPherson launched her campaign on September 28th, 2025. She’s the current MP for Edmonton–Strathcona, and has served as the Foreign Affairs critic for the past 4 years. You can find her website here: https://www.heathermcpherson.ca/
Rob Ashton launched his campaign on October 1st, 2025. He’s served as the President of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union for the past 9 years, and is based in Port Coquitlam, BC. You can find his website here: https://robashton.ca/
There is still at least one more candidate set to enter the race, you should expect to hear more about that next week.
NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR GOES TO THE POLLS!
If you’re not in Newfoundland & Labrador, you may be unaware that there is currently a provincial election underway! Newfoundlanders will be headed to the polls on October 14th, 2025.
We’d like to wish all the NLNDP candidates in this race the best of luck.
If you’d like to support the NLNDP and their candidates, here’s their website: https://nl.ndp.ca/
This is right after the municipal elections in Newfoundland & Labrador that took place on October 2nd. I’m happy to share that former NLNDP MHA, Jordan Brown, is now the Mayor of Labrador City!
JOIN OUR DISCORD
And one more thing: we have a Discord server! We’ve had one for the past couple of months, it’s quite active, it’s a great virtual space to meet other New Democrats, and it’s filled with organizers determined to rebuild this party.
